Ryan, Thomas P., Ethical Issues Involved in the Tripartite Attorney / Insurer / Insured Relationship, DC Defense Lawyers Association, Winter CLE Seminar (January 17, 2008). In this recent seminar, Tom continued the firm's educational series on the complex ethical issues facing practitioners in the tripartite relationship between insurance companies, their insureds and their retained counsel in insurance defense cases under Maryland, Virginia and District of Columbia law. For more information about this subject, to schedule a presentation, or to obtain a copy of the seminar materials, please feel free to contact the firm or Tom directly.
Clark, Jonathan R., Maryland's New Statute on Failure to Act in Good Faith in First Party Claims, Montgomery County Bar Association, Personal Injury Litigation Section (November 16, 2007). In this seminar, Jon continued the firm's educational series on the recent and significant changes to Maryland insurance law dealing with the new “lack of good faith” statute in first-party insurance claims. Obviously, this is a major change to Maryland insurance law, and as a result, this presentation has been given to a number of clients and professional associations by many of the attorneys in the firm.
