Biography:
Matt is a member of the Insurance Defense, Workers Compensation and Subrogation practice groups, and he works primarily in the areas of civil litigation, insurance defense, commercial litigation, workers compensation, construction litigation, toxic torts, products liability, premises liability, personal injury and subrogation claims. Matt has either handled or assisted in the handling of hundreds of cases for individual, institutional and commercial clients, including numerous jury and bench trials, workers compensation and similar administrative hearings, arbitrations, and appellate proceedings in the State and Federal courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Matt has also served on a number of professional committees, boards and associations, and is active in a variety of civic programs indicative of his commitment to public service and legal assistance including a project with the Maryland State Bar Leadership Academy focusing on helping reintroduce felons into society by assisting them with housing and jobs after release in a proactive effort to decrease recidivism.<<For more biographical information>>>
Matt was born in Fairfax, Virginia in 1978 and has resided in Montgomery County since 1982 when his father became the head tennis professional at Congressional Country Club. He is the oldest of three boys, attended local schools, and from an early age was extremely involved in sports. During his high school years at Georgetown Preparatory School, Matt participated in baseball, football, golf and tennis.
While attending college at Saint Joseph’s University, Matt was a history major with a minor in philosophy, and in his senior year he was Greek Council President. Matt attended the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he was graduated with honors and was selected to write for, and later be an editor of, the Law Review.
Coming from a background in workers’ compensation defense, Matt joined McCarthy Wilson as an associate in June of 2004. He is currently licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Matt resides in Olney with his wife, Kristen, who is a Montgomery County school teacher. In his leisure time, Matt plays the guitar and is active in sports, including golf, football and softball.
