Charles E. Wilson, III
Practice Areas: Biography: Chuck is a principal member of the Insurance Defense, Insurance Coverage and Large Loss Subrogation practice groups, and he works primarily in the areas of insurance defense, insurance coverage, personal injury claims, toxic torts, products liability, professional liability, and large loss subrogation claims. Throughout the course of his career, Chuck has tried over 140 cases to verdict and handled hundreds of other claims, arbitrations and appellate proceedings primarily in the State and Federal courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Chuck has served on numerous professional committees and boards, and he is very active with the defense bar associations for the jurisdictions in which he practices. <<For more biographical information>>> Chuck was born in Washington, D.C., in 1965, and lived in Montgomery County during his youth. While in middle school, he traveled the United States and England playing soccer. He attended Rockville High School and played on the school's first soccer State Championship Team. His college years were spent at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, and he was graduated in 1987 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in History. Chuck completed law school at American University, Washington College of Law in 1990. While attending law school, Chuck worked as a law clerk with McCarthy Wilson and studied trial practice under the guidance of The Honorable John McAuliffe of the Maryland Court of Appeals and The Honorable Rosalyn Bell of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. After graduating in 1990, Chuck clerked for The Honorable William Cave of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland, and returned to McCarthy Wilson as an associate in the Fall of 1991. He became a partner with the firm in 2002. Chuck is a member of several different Bar Associations and is active with the Montgomery County Bar Association Fee Dispute Committee. He has litigated over one hundred trials to verdict and was recently named as one of Maryland and Washington D.C.’s Super Lawyers. Chuck and his wife, Sherry, reside in Frederick County with their sons, Travis, Colton, and Bryce. Chuck is on the Personnel Committee of the First Baptist Church of Frederick and was a manager of the Frederick County Emergency Cold Weather Shelter. He recently traveled to Romania with The Smiles Foundation for work with abandoned children. His spare time is spent coaching youth soccer in Frederick County. Memberships and Awards
