Biography:
Andre is a principal member of the Insurance Defense, Insurance Coverage and Workers Compensation practice groups, and he works primarily in the areas of civil litigation, insurance coverage, insurance defense, bad faith litigation, professional liability, personal injury claims, construction litigation, products liability, premises liability and workers compensation. Throughout the course of his career, Andre has tried over 200 cases to verdict and handled hundreds of other claims, arbitrations and appellate proceedings primarily in the State and Federal courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Andre has also served on a number of professional committees and associations, and he is very active in the bar associations where he is licensed. For example, in his capacity as an officer of some of the defense bars with which he is affiliated, Andre has been instrumental in assisting the courts with the formulation and implementation of their new operating systems, indicative of his and the firm’s continuing commitment to the furtherance of education, professionalism and civility in the practice of law. <<For more biographical information>>>
Andre attended the National Law Center at George Washington University. During his second and third years of law school, Andre was a law clerk for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, for which he was granted a 1993 Murray-Snyder Fellowship. He was inducted into and became President of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and was awarded the 1993 Samuel Green Scholarship. Andre was also honored as Phi Delta Phi's 1994 Graduate of the Year from those law students who graduated from law schools in the Washington, D.C., region.
Upon graduation from law school, Andre clerked for The Honorable Frederick D. Dorsey, The Honorable Nan R. Shuker and The Honorable Rufus King, III of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Andre joined McCarthy Wilson as an associate in 1997. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia Bars and their respective Bar Associations, and is also a member of the United States District Courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is also licensed to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Andre had the honor of being selected as a member of the George Washington American Inn of Court and has previously served as its President from 2002-2004. He currently serves as Vice President of the District of Columbia Defense Lawyers' Association and has spoken on several of that organization's panels, including "The Use of Accident Reconstruction Experts in the District of Columbia," and "Overcoming the Warranty of Habitability and Other Obstacles in Premises Liability Cases in the District of Columbia." He also represents the local defense bar on the D.C. Small Claims Subcommittee of the Civil Rules Committee. He is also active in the Bar Association of Montgomery County, and has spoken to the Worker's Compensation Section as a guest panelist concerning the topic of "Innovative Ways to Include the Subsequent Injury Fund in Worker's Compensation Cases." He is currently the Co-Chair of the Personal Injury Litigation Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association.
Andre and his wife, Laurie, are the proud parents of two daughters, Brianna and Caitlyn. They currently reside in Wheaton, Maryland and are active parishioners at St. John the Evangelist, where they are instructors in the Children’s Liturgy and Baptism Preparation programs.
