Biography:

Amy is a member of the Insurance Defense, Insurance Coverage and Appellate Practice groups, and she works primarily in the areas of civil litigation, insurance coverage, insurance defense, bad faith litigation, professional liability, and complex appeals. Amy has handled, or assisted in the handling, of hundreds of cases and appeals for individual, institutional and commercial clients throughout the State and Federal courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia, with which she has been instrumental in assisting the firm in the establishment of new law.  Amy has also served on a number of professional committees, groups and associations, and Amy is very active in a variety of civic programs dedicated to public service, legal assistance, education, professionalism and civility in the practice of law. <<For more biographical information>>>

Amy was born in Silver Spring, Maryland in 1971. She was graduated from Springbrook High School and then attended the University of Richmond, where she was graduated, cum laude, in 1992, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History.

For law school, Amy chose the University of Maryland School of Law, where she was an associate editor of The Business Lawyer, a joint publication of the University of Maryland School of Law and the American Bar Association's Section on Business Law. In her third year, she received the award for best work in Estate and Gift Taxation, and completed an internship with the Honorable Marvin J. Garbis of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Amy was graduated, with honors, in 1995, at which time she began working for McCarthy Wilson.

Amy’s practice is concentrated on appellate litigation and insurance coverage disputes. Amy has argued numerous cases before the highest appellate courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Amy’s reported cases include opinions that are important in the areas of insurance coverage, premises liability, products liability, dental malpractice, attorney’s fee awards, civil procedure, general tort law, and estates and trust law.

Amy and her husband, Chris, live with their sons, Andrew, Benjamin and Jack, in Great Falls, Virginia.
